New Restaurant in Centreville, VA?

Does anyone know what restaurant is under construction @ the intersection of 29 and Old Centreville Road (near the new IHOP close to 28)?

All I have been able to find out is that it will be a 3-story restaurant (according to the electrical contractor).

Thanks!

If you haven't found out more information on the restaurant, the place is called Alto Plaza. It has three levels. It is pretty fancy and it has valet parking. The top level has fine dinig the middle level has casual dinig and the bottom level has like a bar. Here is the website so you can get the menu and stuff. http://www.altoplaza.net/
Good luck! And i hope you like it.

went for lunch with a group of cowiorkers, we were in a semi private area upstairs and it was fantastic. excellent service, tender spare ribs, great drinks! pricey, but i'd go again.

I had lunch at Cafe Castillo in Centreville today and we struck up a conversation with the woman running the place. She mentioned that her brother was opening a higher-end 3 storey restaurant near an IHOP, sometime around November. It didn't register until after I had already left that this mystery restaurant was probably the place.

Next time I am at Castillo (which is in the Shoppers/Sears strip mall across from Sweetwater tavern off 28), I will ask more about the place, but since I am taking a new job in Crystal City next week, it may be a while.

Cafe Castillo bills itself as "Salvadorean & Mexican Food" but the menu is primarily Mexican with pupusas and a couple other exceptions (carne deshilada, nuegados en miel, etc)....not that this necessarily has any bearing on what the new mystery place will be.

The main things about the new place I took away from the conversation:
      1) large
      2) upscale
      3) Salvadorean ownership

Whatever it is, they're spending a lot of money on the building. Passed by it last night and they have the balconies finished, now they're working on the entry arch, which is about 3 stories tall. Looks kinda gaudy. But I'm eagerly awaiting more info about this place

Its open now....has anyone been there yet? I havent tried it myself, but didnt get a very good review from a friend. Lower floors noisy and top floor very expensive. No parking, have to use the valet. Very disappointing after so much anticipation.

Cool! Can't wait. We've been wondering what was going in that spot ourselves. It has such a great view and we were hoping it wasn't going to be something other than an eating establishment. Hope it will be good. If not, will have to go and just have a drink and sit and look at the view!

Good to know, we had been wondering as well. It is sometimes slim pickings around that area (we're actually further south) so always good to see new non-chain restaurants opening up.

I heard this will be an italian resturant with night club. sangria can be associated with italian food as well. I just hope it's something good!

We live not far form there ourselves and have been dying to know what that building was going to be as well. A mexican or italian restaurant would be awesome. If anyone here's anything, be sure to post!

Yea, I think you are right. I just associated sangria with Mexico, apparently just another brain malfunction! From what else I've read, it most likely is Tapas. Can't wait! But seeing how long it's taking to build, I guess we won't be tasting it until the next decade!

Looks like it might be a Mexican restaurant. When I checked the county website for the permits, the name listed on the permits was called "Sangria Restaurant". Here are a couple of links:

And enter the plan # of Q-04-03892.

Good find. Do you have any info that would suggest it might be a mexican restaurant? "Sangria Restaurant" screams TAPAS BAR/LOUNGE to me.

I think the last 3-storey Mexican "restaurant" I went to was Papas & Beer in Ensenada. Don't remember much of it.
