Douzo- have you been recently and can you take kids?

HOw is the food at Douzo. Want to go for early dinner on a Saturday with kids (4,6 and 16).

WE ended up at Oga on Route 9 in Natick. We went at five o'clock when the place was empty and had good service. The food was very good and they were helpful with the kids, bringing them bowls of rice when we sat down at our request etc.Turns out my son tried to take them to Douzo one night and the hostess took one look at the two kids and said "it will be a two hour wait" . He got the message- don;t bring kids here!

For Japanese with the kids I would reccomend Fugakyu in Brookline. They have private rooms and booths for 4-20 people. The food is great (on par with Douzo), and the kids won't bother anyone. You can relax and just enjoy.

it's not really about the restaurant, it's more about how well-behaved are the children? i don't know too many 4- or 6-year olds who can sit still for a 2-hour dinner. can we safely assume they're not chicken-fingers and spaghetti only kinda kids, since you're considering taking them there? i'm well-acquainted with the management staff, and they are extremely nice. any restaurant owner with a brain will do their best to accomodate you, and they do have things like noodles and spring rolls.

i've eaten there dozens of times, and i think the food is quite good. i've eaten the jalapeno roll and never found it too hot.

Thank you to all of you for the good information!!! The kids are not the best behaved nor the worst butgrandpa takes them for a walk while we are waiting for food!

maybe they just over did it with the jalepeno when i was there. it was literally inedible.

Jalapeno can really vary from pepper to pepper. Sometimes they are extremely hot, other times you can gobble them up like bell peppers.

i went there with 2 friends and their (well-behaved) 1 year old not too long ago and everything was fine. we were there right when they opened at 5:00 so there was no dinner rush. they happily sliced some avocado for the little one.

as for the food, it was quite good until we got to the jalepeno roll. the jalepeno was so ridiculously hot and overpowering that it basically killed our tastebuds for the rest of the meal (and i can tolerate very spicy foods). everything else was very good though.

if you enter douzo into the search box, you will see my recent thread on it.

I like Douzo a lot, and took my 14-year-old niece there a few months back for her first meal of sushi. She was treated very well and had a great time. She has much better manners in public than most kids I know that age, however.

I don't think it is kid appropriate, the three times I have been I have not seen any children, but it has been later in the evening (830ish) every time.

I found the sushi to be tasty and fresh.
