Three teenagers and Me in NYC 12/15

I'm doing my sister a favor and chaperoning my Niece and two of her friends to go to the Jingle Ball Concert at MSG on 12/15. I'll also be taking them to an early meal beforehand that is relatively inexpensive and something that 3 teenagers would like.( doors open at 6pm) Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Three adventerous palates,( two of the girls and me) one not so much.
They eat Pizza quite a bit, so places like John's are out.
Thanks in advance for all of your help!

  1. You might want to look into Jekyll and Hyde Club. Food is okay, but the teens will love the atmosphere.

    Or, Mars 2112

    Same deal.

    1. re: pacz

I think that the "experience" portion of the night is going to be the concert itself, and I know that my niece and her "crew" have been to both places. So, just a restaurant with good food is in order:)

    2. I disagree that the food is okay at either J&H or Mars 2112. Ick.

BBQ might work well, and it doesn't break the bank. There are a few places only one subway stop away -- RUB on 23rd St. between 7th & 8th, and Virgils in Times Square. Blue Smoke isn't far either (27th & Park), but if you're taking public trans it's not quite as convenient. There may be others that are close, but they're not coming to mind. I do not recommend Dalls BBQ.

      1. I just thought another place that teens might like: Burgers & Cupcakes on 9th in the mid-30s (forget the xstreet).

        1. La Bonne Soupe on West 55th Street is fun for teens and pretty inexpensive.

          1. I was going to make the same suggestion. It would be a fun place for them and a little different experience. Decent food also.
