Brining a frozen turkey (thawed)

If I would like to brine a turkey and I buy a frozen turkey and then thaw it am I defeating the purpose since the frozen turkeys tend to already be water and salt injected....Will the brining still have any effect on the turkey?

  1. check the label - not all frozen turkey are injected. If it is though, then brining would lead to an extremely salty bird.

    The only thing I can think of is to let the bird sit in plain water overnight to draw out some of the injected salt, then brine on your own for a short time.
