Houston - Need a restaurant for parents' 40th Anniversary with Entertainment a plus

Hi.

I'm coming in from out of town to celebrate my parents' 40th anniversary. We need to find a place that can accomodate a group of 12-14 people (including a few grandkids) that will truly feel like a celebratory evening. We'd love to do something like a dinner cruise in Kemah or something like that, but haven't been able to find one. They live in Spring, but we are willing to drive to anyplace in the Houston area. Any creative ideas?

We are open to anything...champagne brunches, Kemah dinner cruises, etc. Anywhere from Galveston up to the Woodlands would be appreciated.

I appreciate your ideas in advance!

    How about The Great Caruso?

Better hurry!! A friend just had a very difficult time getting tickets to the Christmas show on the date she wanted.

The Great Caruso is a good idea. It's a kitschy place that excudes "celebration", perfect for all ages and all tastes (as long as one is not too picky). The only downside is its structure: the performances run on a schedule and the guests are herded in and out accordingly.

Fridays or Saturday evenings at Mykonos Island on Richmond is another, possibly better, option, with no time restrains - you can stay til 2 in the morning or later. The raucous Greek band, the lively dancing and the wonderful food make it a celebration place also. It's as close to the now-closed Athens Bar in the port area as one can get these days in Houston, I believe. Just make sure you reserve a tale near the band.

Mmm...I love the food at Mykonos Island, especially (of all things) the fried shrimp.

(Hey Avi, check out the stinky tofu thread below. Remember when....)

THE GREAT CARUSO is no longer an option. It burned down completly in a suspicious fire a few days ago.
