Magnolia-a contender!
Was at the Arclight with teen son this weekend and thought we'd try Hungry Cat. Teen doesn't eat seafood or red meat so after one glance at the menu and a brief exchange with the ultra snotty host, and I'm making the emergency call to Chowpatty, who suggested Bowery (too crowded to take us) and Magnolia, where we got a nice little table by the bar. I had a terrific, generous beet and asparagus salad. The asparagus was a little too fibrous but everything else on the plate was quite dandy. Teen pup enjoyed turkey burger and mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich. Service was particularly warm. I don't love the way the place looks--sort of like it can't decide what it wants to be, but it was so amiable, reasonable and warm that I'll definitely be back. Great selection of decent wines available by the glass too-good if you travel with the underage. Thanks Patty!
