Caffe Adulis in New Haven
We went here on Saturday and the food was fabulous! Great food, great atmosphere, slow service. You order your food and all the entrees come on one big tray that you all eat with crepe-like bread with your hands. It was fun and delicious. I recommend checking it out if you are in New Haven. We were seated in the back of the restaurant and didn't get attentive service in the least but with good friends and good food we weren't in a hurry. Just wish they had more African beers and more affordable African wines available. www.caffeadulis.com
I love Cafe Adulis. Gideon runs a relaxed restaurant. It's the kind of place where you can let your hair down. Great atmosphere, steady dose of downtempo/acid jazz music, small plates to pick from and within a half block to some of New Haven's other fine spots.
I concur, this is a gem. The restaurant is Etrician if I remember - and the bread is great - spongey in texture with a sourdough flavor. My boyfriend found the selections too 'vegetarian' for his liking, although he enjoyed the ambiance.
Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine. Even though I am not a vegetarian, I always found plenty to choose from.
