New Year's Eve - Special dining events?

My wife and I are going to New Orleans for our anniversary and New Year's Eve. We got married on 12/30/02 in Jackson Square, and we haven't been back to NO since. We're excited--we used to go down for a few days every NYE, but this is the first time we'll be there when we aren't impoverished students!

We were in Charleston for NYE last year (and I didn't realize what a great foodie town it was until we got there--man alive, we ate well) and most of the good restaurants had special events happening, with a prix fixe menu or the like. Do the good restaurants in NO do the same thing? Are there any worth jumping on for reservations now?

We have no culinary plans yet, except that we want to go back to the site of our wedding reception on our anniversary--the Acme Oyster House. We're staying at the Maison Dupuy, the hotel attached to Dominique's; I don't know what the board's take is on it, but I've heard good things.

Dominique's was very good and almost totally empty when I went a few months ago. It's more traditional French techniques (if not ingredients), so the flavors were not the K-Paul's knock your socks off sensory blast. Very good in a very different way.

I ate at Upperline a few years ago right before midnight on NYE, and they handed out hats and noisemakers. Fun place.

Not food suggestion, but I just saw that Tab Benoit and Amanda Shaw are going to be at Rock-n-Bowl for New Years Eve. $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Talk about a big fun party for small pennies. Have a good dinner some place else then cab it over and dance the night away with mostly locals. Check nola.com to see if they have any listings for special NYE dinners. Enjoy your trip!
