Amazing lunch - May's Cafe in Allston

Had one of the best meals I've had in awhile at this pristine little place in Allston.

Started with Fresh Steamed Greens in a subtle, yet tasty light sauce as well as Five Spices Calamari with cilantro that was also simple, but very, very good.

We also had Formosa Spicy Yaki Ramen with shitake mushrooms that was the best noodle dish I can remember having.

The second "main" was Sauteed Udon with Veggie and Basil which we also liked a lot.

I can't wait to go back and try more things from this very friendly place.

I think they have 5 tables of 4. We went on a friday night and had no probelm... It's so good! The tea and smoothies are expensive (IMO) but I ordered the honey rose tea and it was really good. Well worth the $4.50.

i think there are maybe 10-12 seats? very small, though i don't think you'd have trouble on a wednesday or thursday night (i saw lots of takeout orders and college students ordering smoothies). the woman taking your order will probably be may! apparently they've been there for like 5 years, and it's the cleanest restaurant i've ever seen. hands down.

What is the seating like at May's? Would I have trouble getting a table there on a Wednesday or Thursday night?

I liken May's to crack... you go once and you can't stop!!!

I have had the following and each was outstanding:
veggie noodle soup
udon noodles w/ veggies and tofu
steamed greens
turnip cakes

They open every day at 12 noon and are open for dinner.

I agree. May's cafe is an amazing treasure. Tucked on a quite side street in Allston, one would never find it without an inside recommendation.

One of the best things about it is May herself, a lovely warm woman, who is committed to offering healthy, lo-cal and delicious meals in a soothing and stress free environment.
