Vegetarian restaurant around 513 W. 54th St.- Btwn 10th & 11th. Also, Restaurant Row?

  • 4

Hello! Philly chowhound visiting to see the Stephen Colbert show, and wondering if there are any good vegetarian/vegetarian friendly (like Middle Eastern or something else) restaurants in the area.

513 W. 54th St.- Btwn 10th & 11th

Also, we looked on the map and saw that there is an area called Restaurant Row. Any description of what can be found there (besides the obvious answer of restaurants)? ;)

Thanks!

  1. Just hit 9th Ave. and you'll find lots of veggie-friendly places. Some examples are Ariana Afghan Kebab, Empanada Mama and a handful of Asian/noodle places.

    1. Queen of Sheba
      650 10th Ave (46th St.)

      Zen Palate
      663 Ninth Ave. (46th St,)

Restaurant Row is technically 46th between 8th and 9th, so my rec's are just west of it

Avoid Zen Palate! The food is awful!!

Uncle Nick's, on 9th, b/t 50th & 51st Sts., the taverna-style Greek restaurant, has very good food. The menu includes vegetarian-friendly options, including a tasty vegetable kebob.

As regards Restaurant, you can get info on the kinds of restaurants located on that block, as well seeing their menus, by checking through the West 40's listing on menupages.com.

      2. Thanks so much for the recs. Uncle Nicks sounds great as we have many excellent ethnic restaurants in Philly, but lack a large selection of Greek. I will check the board again later tonight for more great advice. Maybe choices for both lunch and dinner!
