BLISS RESTAURANT IN QUEENS

HAS ANYONE RECENLTY DINED AT THE BLISS RESTAURANT LOCATED ON THE C/O 46 ST AND SKILLMAN AVE IN QUEENS? I WAS PLANNING ON TAKING A GROUP FRIENDS FOR DINNER IN DECEMBER TO CELEBRATE A B'DAY. I DID HEAR THAT SINCE CHEF MCGRATH LEFT THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN THE SAME.

Haven't been in a few months. I'd really prefer it if they'd turn down the lights, put a few candles out. You feel like you're on display when you're in there. They need some lively
music. Something to make it feel less cold.

better food wouldn't hurt either. each time i went there since john mcgrath left the food has gone down hill more and more. does anyone know where he went?

      45-02 48th Avenue.
It's actually called De Mole now, though I'll probably always refer to them as El Jarro.

I haven't eaten at Bliss in a couple months, but it strikes me as a poor choice for a celebration. The room can be quiet to a fault, service can be a bit haphazard...

You know where, nearby, they handle a big crowd pretty well, IMO? Sapori d'Ischia. People can gather at the wine bar up front, service is generally solid, the room is usually pretty hopping, and other than sitting too close to the live musicians, I don't think you can go wrong there for a birthday celebration.

bliss: the room is quiet, the service is eh ok, the food is very poor since mcgrath left. the general atmosphere is COLD.

are you looking for another option in the nabe? sapori is a nice option. i also enjoy quaint. the menu is limited, but the food is well executed and tasty. the atmosphere is cozy and warm and more suitable for a celebration.

El Jarro is a great place for a celebration. It is BYO, which keeps the cost to a minimum.
The food's great. Cute atmosphere. It's small, though, so I wouldn't go with a group larger than 10 at the most.
