Fig (Asheville) gets high marks

A busy Thurs nite and a couple of groups showing up to this small restaurant w/o reservations could have turned the evening into a dining disaster but we had another wonderful mealand the service was attentive and unrushed. I like their winter-themed dishes. I had a squab that was served with these delicious little handmade squash gnocchi and my husband had a pork tenderloin but for him the star of the meal was a duck liver appetizer over frissee (sp?) that had such an interesting taste, almost a bit like a German homemade fresh sauerkraut...

I think it is probably $15-$30

Sounds yummy. What is the price range of the entrees?

I would say they use local and seasonal ingredients but don't advertise it to the extent that others do. Varied and comprehensive wine list - by the glass probably $7-10. Several nice desserts. I was sorely tempted by the sweet potato pie special over fennel seed ice cream but my husband was in a chocolate mood so we split a dense dark chocolate torte that was delicious. I can't recall all of the other desserts they had.

Thanks for your review, Leah. I haven't been to Fig. What type of cuisine do they offer? Local ingredients? How about the wine list? Any decent desserts?
