Best Burger in Aptos, Capitola, or Soquel?

I want a burger for dinner. Can I get a good one anywhere in Aptos, Capitola, or Soquel?

I had a cheeseburger at Severino's. It was really good. And large. They are half price during happy hour Monday through Friday.

Carpo's burgers are ok, the turkey burger is better than most.
Aptos Burger Co. is pretty good too.
      Jack's downtown is excellent.
Wood Nickel in watsonville is also excellent for burgers.

Nothing absolutely extra-ordinary yet. I'm still using "Rockies Crown Pub" in San Diego as my baseline...I'll probably never find one that good again.

I have had a few hamburgers at the Blue Spoon. But this is back in 2000 when it first opened and I was working there. I can say then they were very good at lunch (the shift I did not work) and at dinner. We had some good classic combos as well some more exotic but just the plain burger was great.

The California Burger at 99 Bottles is the best burger I've had in town. It's basically a guacamole / bacon cheeseburger and it's pretty much amazing. I used to go there everytime I'd get a paycheck, but I try to eat burgers more like once a month these days...

Also the Blue Cheese and Garlic burger is great too, and more exotic. But I prefer the California Burger. Their salmon sandwiches are very respectable too.

I guess Bleu Spoon is gone. Oh well. I'm headed to Carpo's...

Well, since you haven't had any leads, let me ask you about burgers that I'm curious about:

Have you tried the burgers at the Aptos Burger Co. in the Rancho del Mar shopping center w/ Safeway? Here's an old menu on menustation:
            http://www.menustation.com/AptosBurge...

How about the burgers at Bleu Spoon? I've heard the food is so-so there but the ads for their burger make me wonder...

I still haven't found an amazing burger in the general area, but the one at Red hits the spot when I'm craving a big beef patty. Speaking of, I was there last night and it was hopping. Their beer list is growing and growing, and I've had some really delicious ones. Food is still eh, but it's a fun hangout.

I had a burger at the Aptos Burger Co. about two years ago just after moving back to the area. I remember it being of good quality but not very flavorful. I believe my aunt was a fan of the turkey burger. My dad was not impressed with the cheese steak. That's about all I can tell you about the burgers.

What I do like about the place is the salads. They make them with pine nuts, cranberries, and artichoke hearts. If you get one with chicken, they are very generous with big chunks of chicken breast. The chicken can be a bit dry at times though. It was a nice little place a couple of years ago, but the interior has become somewhat dingy since then. You might enjoy it more if you went on a warm day and ate on the patio.

Still have not tried Bleu Spoon, but have seen those same ads. Someone told me that the burgers are supposed to be great.

I might check out Red this Saturday night.

Thanks for the info on ABC; I should try it sometime for myself. Friends have also recommended the burger at the Hindquarter in SC, but I still haven't been. Anyone out there have comments?

Has anyone tried the burger at Bleu Spoon yet?

Nope, maybe you should? :-) The last memorable burger I had in the area was at Zachary's in downtown SC. A friend ordered the "gourmet burger" w/ bacon and avocado; I had a bite and it was very juicy, flavorful, and tasty. I bet their plain burger would be good. I wish they served french fries (not their home fries) w/ it though...

Stay away from the terrible burger at Hindquarter.

Well, I ended up going to Carpo's. They have a decent burger. I really don't like their fries that much anymore. I'll stick with the onion rings for now on.

                Any other suggestions?

The Carpo's on the West Side has a code for well done fries. It increases your odds of a better batch- not that they are ever great.

Sorry, I never hit your side of the world for a burger so no specific tips.
