ignoring trolls

Would there be any way to make it so that certain users' messages either invisible, or show as automatically compressed? There's one particularly troublesome member who frequents one of the boards I do and I'm tired of reporting them. My user experience of the site would be improved if I could just make them go away.

Yes, I've reported their messages before, and the worst messages they've left have been deleted. But this user just tends to be argumentative, and inexplicably seems to want to start bickering matches at every opportunity. If their messages fell below a personal display threshold based on my profile, or just didn't appear at all, it would make things more pleasant.

I do understand and recognize your annoyance, but there are two things you can do. Number one is that you don't have to read their posts. And number two is this. Nothing screws up a provocateur like being ignored. Don't get drawn in.

Ever have one of those mouth sores that your tongue always seeks out? Sometimes it's hard to resist engaging trolls. but you are correct. In a perfect world, the they would starve to death.

Davefaris, if this user goes beyond mere annoyance to the point where he/she is disrupting or misusing the site, please let us know via the "report this post" function.

That feature is not currently available, but it is a good idea. Thanks for the feedback.
