Dress Code for the Jar or Little Door?

I was thinking about going to these two restaurants, but unsure of the dress code for my date and myself? THANKS!

Pretty much everywhere in LA is casual; some places are "smart casual" (which means you'll see people with jeans, Chucks, some random button-down shirt, and some even more random blazer).

I ate at Chinois in shorts once (don't ask, it was a LONG story) and there was no whispering or giggling or drama like there might have been in New York.

all LA is casual, but people tend to "look nice" at both of these spots, IME - not a jacket, but not t-shirts and ripped jeans, either
