Something unusual: Indian pizza in Bellevue

Sgt Snackers Nov 8, 2006 11:26 PM

Canam Pizza in Bellevue is your run-of-the-mill pizza joint in a strip mall but is owned and run by an Indian family. If you ask, they have a special "Paneer butter masala pizza" (not on the menu on the wall, but on their printed menu) that is actually very good -- a regular pizza topped with paneer and a spicy, creamy masala curry sauce, and finished off with cilantro.

It sounds weird ... heck, it IS weird ... but it is strangely very good. Worth checking out if you're in the mood for something different.

"Pizza? Now THAT's what I call a taco!"

Indian Pizza is fairly common in the SF Bay area.

We had ordered a Tandori Chicken pizza several times from the CanAm in Burien. One day we called and ordered, and they quoted a price that was a couple of dollars higher than usual. When my husband asked why the difference, the guy on the phone said "Oh, they must have been thinking you were Indian." Huh???

I don't like ethnic discrimination, no matter which way it's directed. We haven't gone back since.
