Is there anywhere other than the North End where one can buy marzipan? Marias and Mike's both have it...but i don't want to fight the parking in the North End.

Marty's liquor store in Newton often has the fruit shaped marzipan candies. You can buy plain marzipan all over. I know the Stop & Shop on Watertown St has it.

Marzipan candy is actually fairly easy to come by around Boston. A few favorites:

- Cardullos in Harvard Square has a fairly large marzipan selection.

- Right around the corner from Cardullos is LA Burdick. Although chocolate is their specialty (notably their delicious signature chocolate mice), they make very good marzipan candy as well.

- The Danish Pastry House in Medford puts marzipan in seemingly half of their confections. They are all beautiful to look at; taste varies from great to meh. I don't specifically recall them carrying plain old marzipan candy per se, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me.

I have had incredibly good mail-order marzipan.
The Vermont Country store has a number of varieties (bet the varieties expand during the holidays, too) and excellent service. You pay for the luxury of click-and-point, but the result is excellent. On the other hand, you might want an excuse to go to a candy shop and I wouldnt blame you!

I think the marzipan candies at Fastachi, (Mt. Auburn St. in Watertown) are some of the most delicious I have ever tasted. I believe they are made in Belgium for Nirvana. Fastachi also sells their own (wonderful) roasted nuts and lots of fine chocolates, Belgian as well as others.
