Nashville Convention Center Area
I'll be at a conference at the convention center (staying at the Renaissance) next week and am looking for some advice for places in the vicinity: good places for coffee (espresso), places to pick up a quick and healthy lunch (any health food stores close by?), and interesting but not too expensive restaurants (casual & ethnic preferred) we could walk to? Thanks!
Coffee and/or lunch--there's a locally owned artisan bakery adjacent to the library which is close to both your hotel and the convention center--Provence. They have great sandwiches, soups and salads, and of course baked items and coffee. I do not frequent this location, but there is one near my home which is great.
I'll be thinking on dinnner choices.
There are a few placces near there. One is Parco in Printers Alley, get the veggie burger if you can and have the time, the owner is the only chef and is meticulous(sp?). Also there is a fairly new place called the Standard which is on 8th near Church. Another place to walk to and see what is available is the Arcade (walk to 5th the make a left and you will see the start of it at the Walgreens. I can't guarantee the quality but you can find some diversity.
As for Provence I personally find it over rated and over priced for what you get, but it is tasty.
I will keep thinking on it.
I think I may be going to the same conference and have the same questions. I'm also looking for someplace near Vanderbilt to take some college students for dinner - in this case, quantity trumps quality. Still, I want something decent. Someone has already recommended "South St." Is that a good choice?
