I'm most interested in butchers, but if you've good restaurant bacon, I'd love your take also.
I like mine thick cut.

while on this subject, anyone know where i can get british style rashers of bacon in pennsylvania or jersey. my husband is a brit and we both love it. last summer when visiting his family, i wanted to "smuggle" a 2 kg. vacuum sealed package back home, but that killjoy put the kibosh on it. i love the stuff!

My favorite is the double-smoked bacon at the Fair Food Project Stand at RTM. When their baby arugula is in season too, its the start of a rockin' BLT.

I'm a big fan of the guy who brings in the bacon and other meats to the Fitler Square farmer's market every Saturday morning (in the winter it might be every other Saturday). Thick cut, smoked, peppery.

Go see any of the butchers in the Reading Terminal Market. There's a PA Dutch stand called Halteman's Family Foods (I think) that carries homemade smoked bacon straight from their farm. Excellent. Their eggs and fresh butter are fantastic also.

I'll second that. The butcher is Alderfer's. I've been to all the markets and it's the best. Damn, I need to make some quiche lorraine.

In the Wayne Farmer's Market, there's a butcher in the very back (I think the name is Alderhoffer or something). They have the best bacon in my opinion. I don't eat bacon often, but for a splurge, I usually get it from there.
