Bacchus is better
Fancy delis with prepared entrees and salads usually disappoint me, for reasons from the questionable freshness of the food to just plain lack of deliciousness.
Bacchus (2300 Spruce @ 23rd) stands out in the field. They can really cook. My partner and I have been in a hyper-stressed phase lately (or are we always? Maybe it's just a long, long string of hyper-stressed phases, stretching out to the horizon) and haven't been cooking as much as we'd like to. There are only so many nights we can get pizza delivered so we've been working our way through Bacchus's selections (they're open til 7 or 8 many nights, so we can pick up dinner on the way home from work/studying).
Their turkey meatloaf is possibly the best meatloaf I've had, turkey or otherwise - moist and meaty and with so much rich meat-and-vegetable flavor baked in that it requires absolutely no saucing or other adornment. Their various takes on roasted pork loins are consistently terrific and miraculously not-overcooked. Their creative cold 'slaws' and white-bean dishes have all been terrific as well. The only things I've found somewhat disappointing have been their desserts, which are perfectly fine but not as super-tasty as their non-sweets (although they do make surpassingly good breakfast muffins).
The selection rotates constantly, though the meatloaf is a staple, thankfully. I recommend them to all of you.
