Any suggestions on quality gourmet baskets that include breakfast items? I'm thinking that this would be a nice holiday gift for a friend.

I've searched around the other boards, but have mostly found information for corporate gifts.

How about all the dry for scones, savory biscuits and muffins (including a recipe attached), some nice preserves and jams, some interesting teas and coffees... you can also include fun non edibles things like soft boiled egg cups, tea or demitasse cups, infusers or some freshly cut/dried flowers, table linen, pretty creamers... If you want food ready to eat, you could make a coffee cake, muffins (the same as the dry ingredients), little brioche, an assortment of filled and plain croissants. As a base you could put in all the pampering items associated with morning or breakfast in bed like eye masks, ultra soft no slip sox...

Wanda, this is a great idea, but I was thinking more along the lines of purchasing a made to order basket. My friend lives in Florida, and I think it would just be easier for me to place the order and have it delivered to her and her family.

I would love to order a basket that includes the stuff you mention in your post. Gosh, I wish I would receive one for myself!

I had thought about Harry & David, but I've only read negative things about them lately. Also, I didn't see many breakfast type offerings.

Check out the maple syrup places in the northeast; many of them, such as Boisvert in MA, have gift boxes that include, along with their maple syrup, such items as pancake mix, teas, muffin mixes (or muffins), jams, etc. There must be a number of such places in the MA-NH-Vermont area.

How about Wolferman's (www.wolfermans.com). They have gift baskets/boxes with English muffins, scones, etc. either savory or sweet. The selection is pretty nice. We received some as a gift last year and they were very good.

Harringtons in Shelburne VT. They do a number of breakfast baskets with their cob smoked bacon and hams, Vt. maple syrup etc. Great stuff. I used to shop in the store regularly and I do miss it. The cob smoked bacon is some of the very best.
