New Bagel store in 5 Towns
I noticed a new bagel store in the Peninsula Shopping center in Hewlett. The name of the store is Bagel Boss (www.bagelboss.com) - a nice large (for a bagel store) store that has lots of appetizing section and lots of bakery items.
I had their breakfast special, quick service and cheaper than the ones on Central Ave. They have on the window displayed their kashrus certificate (NOT from the 5 Towns Vad, but looks fine to me) and they have a washing station prominently located. I noticed people with kipahs eating there.
This makes kosher bagel store #5 to the 5 towns, but a nice addition, and certainly the nicest looking one of the bunch.
"Rabbi Asher Schecter" is the supervisor. I didn't see any other affiliation listed. The teuda expired in September.

Just went there this morning for breakfast and noticed that the certification expires on Sept 13, 2007. The letter was dated 11/2/2006, and the Fax date was 11/3/2006. I guess it took a while till it found its way to the store window.

I just checked my Jewish calender for Sept 13, 2007. it's Rosh Hoshana. I'll bet all the 5 towns vaad certifications expire on that date.

Rabbi Asher Schecter took over the shul that was started by our very own Rabbi Aryeh Z. Ginsberg of the Chofetz Chaim Torah Center of Cedarhurst.
...Ohr Moshe was founded in 1987 by R' Aryeh Z. Ginsberg a Talmud of Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim, in his basement. It was named LZ"N Rav Moshe Feinstein ZT"L who passed away the previous year. The Shul moved to its permanent quarters in 1994 where it remains today. In 2001 Rabbi Asher Schechter took over the leadership of the Shul...

The following also comes from the web site http://mysite.verizon.net/ohrmoshe/ab...
... he serves as the Rav HaMachshir at the Bagel Boss chain throughout Long Island and Cold Stone Creamery in Hillcrest and Forest Hills ...
Like I said, looks ok to me. I guess one can ask Rabbi Ginsberg, a member of the Vad of the 5 Towns as to Rabbi Schecter's qualifications.

I sure hope all is fine with the supervision. The store is nicely positioned on the way to Green Acres shopping mall with plenty of parking and also a few steps away from Foodtown.

I believe that Bagel Boss has the best bagels.I highly recommend their honey-whole wheat bagels. I have eaten at several of their locations. Their food is always fresh. However, I do not recommend their pastries or cookies. They look good, but they taste horrible! Their muffins, though, are good. They give very efficient service. If the line is several people deep, you will not have to wait long. They have many workers who work very quickly.

Great bagels and great chopped salad made to order. As to Rabbi Schechter, he is a great talmid chacham and also quite approachable. He was previously the Rav in Merrick, LI and Fairlawn NJ before moving to Queens. He is the son in law of Rabbi Peretz Steinberg of the Young Israel of Queens Valley.

Bagel Boss is far superior to most Kosher bagel shops. Their sundried bagels and Black Russian bagels are good. They are pricey compared to mainstream bagel stores, but you get good quality food and service for your money.
Two Thumbs up for Bagel Boss.

I don't know about their bagel prices, but as far as their breakfast special they are the cheapest in the five towns. As an example I sually buy my breakfast special from Bagel Delight in Cedarhurst - for example - 2 eggs, bagel, juice home fries and coffee - Bagel delight $4.74 Bagel Boss $3.99

I was comparing the prices to bagel shops on Long Island/Queens outside of the Five Towns area.

Nice place, good prices, and good location For some reason TheFiveTowns web site does not have them listed despite my email attempts to them and BagelBoss, go figure.

So besides being an orthodox rav in hillcrest, his father-in-law is R'Peretz Steinberg of the young israel of queens valley in kew garden hills. Also, he is a halacha teacher in Shevach H.S., which is the high school of bais yaakov of queens, which had been run by R' Moshe Neuman. The l'modai kodesh coordinator(or whatever her exact title is) is Reb Krohn, as in R' Pesach Krohn's wife. Shevach would not hire a halacha teacher if they felt he would not meet their standards.
