Birthday Dinner for Group of 10-15
Hi,
It's my sister's 30th birthday this Saturday night and a group of 15 of us want to go out to dinner. We will be starting off with cocktails at my apartment in Lincoln Park (Clark and Fullerton). However, we don't mind having to take a short cab somewhere. I'd like somewhere casual, nice, fun and affordable. Tapas is usually a great bet but it doesn't sound like most of the places (Cafe Iberico, Ba Ba Reeba) take reservations and I would prefer that so we don't have to wait forever. I am not a fan of Emilios! What about Sangria on Weed Street? We do have some sensitive eaters that don't like spicey food and already shot down the idea of Carnivale. I'm thinking maybe tapas, italian, american, or something of a mix. Thanks for any help!

A great spot for a dinner with a group around your size is 160 Blue. Not the hottest place around, but the food is vg, has a cool atmosphere... but the reason I like it for you is that they have a great private dining room off the main room... with a round table (a round table is so much better than a rectangular one for a group). I think it seats around 12 or so persons??? Anyway, its sorta late to book, but if that sounds good you never know, it might not be booked.

If you don't like Emilios, I don't know that you'll like Iberico or Babareeba. I think Emilios is better than those two, and they all serve Spanish Tapas. Never been to Sangria.
Honestly, my first thought was Carnivale. I've been there half a dozen times and never had a dish I would consider spicy, and it is casual/nice/fun/affordable. Plus its a real big place so I bet you would not have a problem with reservations.
What about Topo Gigio or Dinotto (both Italian)? Both are near North and Wells.
Tizi Meloul is an interesting choice farther south on Wells. They have an interesting middle eastern infuence, a very cool room, and good food.
Whereever you choose, I'd call tomorrow. A reservation for 15 might be tough.
