Freezing pumpkin pie

I want to make a pumpkin pie, and was thinking about making two now and freezing one for Thanksgiving to cut down on tasks that day. Would freezing one work? Anything I need to do to make it freeze and thaw better? TIA!

I freeze mine just about every year and have never had any complaints. I may not be cooking for the pickiest crowd, but they taste fine to me.

Nestle's themselves (own the Libby's brand) suggest the following:

      - Pumpkin pie is a custard-type pie and freezing of this type of pie is not recommended. However, you can make the pumpkin filling and pie shell ahead and freeze each separately up to 1 month. Defrost both before filling shell with pumpkin filling. Stir filling to be sure all ingredients are well mixed.
