upscale dining in Buffalo, NY

We're going to Buffalo over the Christmas holidays and we are looking for an upscale restaurant to take the relatives. Any suggestions?

  1. My favorite restaurant in Buffalo is The Left Bank--never had a bad experience there.

    1. I would agree that Left Bank is an awesome restaurant. Antoher upscale restaurant is the Buffalo Chophouse

Asa Ransom House in Clarence is really good too:

      Have fun!!

      1. I haven't been to the major super expensive restaurants in the downtown area. But Scotch and Sirloin in Amherst near the UB North Campus has outstanding steak and the decor is hunting lodge themed.

        1. Scotch and Sirloin is really good, but I would not consider it upscale. It is one of my favorites though.

          1. Agree with Left Bank rec. above (Full disclosure....I am friends with the owner)however I'm not sure I'd describe it as "upscale"...more of a comfy bistro/urban feel.... Here are some other spots you may also want to try.....

Rue Franklin is a very good French restaurant located on...Franklin St. Great service in a charming room.

Olivers, located on Deleware Ave. has been around forever, and has great food and really nice ambience.

A bit out of town, but Daniels, located in Hamburg NY (about 15-20 minutes south of downtown Buffalo)has tremendous food and is a true "fine dining" experience

            Hope those help!

            1. Le Metro is very good and for prime rib its hard to beat Friar's Tabel in Cheektowaga.

              1. I also dined at Rue Franklin many years ago, very nice. Also, and I don't know if it still exists, Bflo Rome. good for brunch too. I think it is on Hertel Street.

                1. I'd try Oliver's on Delaware, at least for traditional food. I guess it depends on what kind of food you want. Daniel's is excellent - reservations are a must. I've been disappointed at the Left Bank of late. If you like Asian or other, there are other suggestions - are you open to other cuisine?

                  1. I was just there over Thanksgiving and had excellent meals at Hutch's, DiGulio's and Bacchus.

                    1. Thanks for all of your suggestions. I'll let you know where we end up going.
