Good places for brunch in Alexandria

Hi, Chowhounds. I'm looking for a good place to go to brunch on Sunday with a couple of friends. Suggested possibilities have included Bread and Chocolate and La Madeleine, but I'm not nuts about either chain. Do people in the area have better suggestions? We need to meet in Alexandria, so DC is out.

Thanks!

Mango Mike's off of Duke Street.

Always great for bunch. Made to order omelets, pasta, waffles, etc.

Say hello to the little fishies!

Had brunch at Majestic Cafe in Old Town last weekend for the first time. Outstanding. Sausage and gravy was the hit of the table. Corned beef hash was also great.

I like the Royal Cafe - sort of a diner, but if you like that kinda food, it's delicious. My co-workers don't like it for lunch (I do) but they're a bit snootier about food. I like old fashioned down home cooking. They have an omelete bar and a made to order waffles. It gets crowded on Sundays. I think it's a great local place.

I've tried the Royal Cafe a couple of times and I just don't understand the reviews it gets. I found nothing special, long lines and unremarkable food.

My suggestion for brunch would be to go to 215 on King St. They do not have a buffet, you order off the menu but the food has always been excellent with a nice variety offered.

I've always been a big fan of the Royal Cafe for brunch on the weekend - it can get a bit crowded around the omelet station - but the food is good - it is very much a local spot - folks linger over coffee and the newspaper.

It's not traditional "brunch" food, but the Sunday buffet at Bombay Curry Company is fantastic. 11:30-2pm.
