I want to ship some salmon or crab as a holiday gift to relatives in the Midwest. Searching the internet I came across freshseafood.com which is apparently known as Pure Food Fish Market in the Pike Street Market.

Does anybody have any comment on this particular company or have another recommendation?

Thanks for your help.

i used them twice to ship to relatives. The first time the food arrived several days earlier than requested (they disregarded my timing instructions) but was in good condition (still cold). The second time it did not arrive very cold. Hit or miss?

This place has been around forever, but I have no personal experience with them. They're expensive (I guess they all are?)

pure food fish is one of the oldest merchants in the market but the few times i dealt with them i was disappointed - ergo, few. i have had much better luck with city fish at the foot of pine street directly under the 'public market' sign. this is NOT the idiots who throw fish but 100 yards north of them across from beecher's cheese.

I prefer Jack's Fish Spot these days. Never patronized City Fish because of the fishy odor around the stand - no respectable (or sanitary) fishmonger should smell bad.

Jack's is also the only monger in the market with live tanks, IIRC.

I haven't had them ship, but regularly have them pack for me to carry on when I'm visiting relatives. I do see they ship - http://www.jacksfishspot.com.
