Quick dinner in Braintree

I'll be in Braintree tonight for a pro-wrestling show (Ring of Honor) at the Armory. Have I already lost all credibility with the Hounds? ;-)

I see these restaurants in the area:

Bickfords Family Restaurant
135 Union St, Braintree, MA

Chili's Grill & Bar
100 Ivory St, Braintree, MA

Tennessees Real BBQ
174 Pearl St, Braintree, MA

Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse
551 John Mahar Hwy, Braintree, MA

Burger King
165 Pearl St, Braintree, MA

Campanale's Restaurant
88 Pearl St, Braintree, MA

Braintree Jade
373 Washington St, Braintree, MA

Loco's
913 Washington St, Braintree, MA

Sintra
906 Washington St, Braintree, MA

Town Pizza
361 Washington St, Braintree, MA

I like Bugaboo Creek and Chili's...but I was wondering about Tennessees Real BBQ, Braintree Jade, and Loco's. Any thoughts on these last three?

Thanks!

So yeah, my time was very limited. My girlfriend and I decided on Bugaboo but left after we were told 20-25 minute waiting time. There was only one other party waiting in the lobby...

We walked over to Tennessees Real BBQ. It wasn't crowded. I had the catfish strips, corn on the cob, green beans, and french fries. My girlfriend had ribs. The food came quickly. Everything was fine except that her orange juice was way watered down. A manager came around asking how everything was. I told her about the juice and she apologized and said it would be taken off the bill. She replaced it with a pineapple juice. It was an ok place to grab a quick bite.

We made it to the Armory just in time to grab one of the last parking spots (without blocking anyone in).

Not a big fan of Legal's but the Braintree location is actually pretty good. I would probably choose Rock Bottom over Legals though. Friday's would not be on my list for consideration. For chinese, Bejing Duck is good or you could always go to F1 and watch the racing. Joe's American Bar and Grille is also in the area.

El Sarape Mexican in weymouth is about a mile away on the same road. If the armory is on your right, you follow the road for about a mile + till second full set(theres a yellow blinking light that doesn't count)of lights bear right and find a spot its right there in weymouth landing.

Braintree Jade is a take-out Chinese place with a couple of tables, so it might not fit the bill if you are looking for a sit-down meal.

            There are other places around:

Bertuccis, Rock Bottom Brewery, Legal Sea Food, Uno's, Maria's Italian, Famous Dave's BBQ, El Sarape Mexican (in Weymouth Landing, but close enough...very good Mexican), Hilltop steakhouse, TGI Friday's, the 99, Joe's American Bar and Grill

Joshua, I'm down in Braintree a lot, so I've been to nearly every restaurant in that area. Here are are some thoughts:

Bickfords Family Restaurant--It's closed. Not sure what's going in there.

Chili's--Not terrible, but not so great, either.

Tennessees--I like the place, but avoid the sandwiches, which are pretty bad. The ribs are good and the burritos aren't too bad. The sides are great!

                Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse--ugh

Campanale's--Very inconsistent. I've had some great meals there, but some awful ones, too. If you go, try to stay simple.

Some other places to consider are El Sarape in East Braintree (great Mexican food), the 99 at the plaza (not great, but better than Applebee's or TGIF), the Olympian Diner in South Braintree Square (very good Greek diner), and Rosie Sub & Pizza Shop on Pond Street (good subs, excellent pizza).

Is the Olympian diner in South Braintree still there? Last time I looked Diner was gone, only the sign, on the right side of the St. headed south, was left. This was a super diner, but I think it's been gone for some time.

I was at the Olympian on Sunday morning. Sad to say, it was a really disappointing meal, especially since I've had some good meals there in the past. But this was just bad, from the overly mushy/greasy home fries to the strange-tasting batter of the French toast.

Overly mushy home fries, the typical Boston problem.

Ugh, I agree on that point. The home fries at A Lighter Fare in East Milton Square are 100 times better than those at the Olympian. I also like the ones at Brookline Lunch in Cambridge.

Sintra is excellent, but will probably feel out of place after a wrestling match ;-)
