Thanksgiving meal prepared & delivered in Central NJ area
This could be a strange request, but I am searching for a place that makes Thanksgiving meals and either delivers them to you door (preferably) or has you pick the food up, either on the day of or the day before Thanksgiving.
The thing is that we are only 2 people and in my on-line searching I see that a lot of places require an order for at least an 8-person minimum. Also, ideally, I would like to be able to customize the menu. We are looking for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, but I would like to be able to pick and choose the side dishes.
We were thinking there must be some local chef – even a personal chef who works out of his/her home – that would be able to do this for us. I live in Central NJ (between New Brunswick and Princeton). Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
It may not be exactly what you are looking for, and I'm not quite sure exactly what their offer is, but I saw a sign in Wegmans the other day for "complete Thanksgiving dinner" for $149 I believe. The ad was something like "set your table, invite guests, and eat...."
It may be (and sounds like it is) for 4 people or more, but its an option to check out in a pinch. As for customizing, not sure on that option but you can check with them, they DO catering and platters and such (and a word of warning, its INSANE around holiday time).
Or, they also offer side dishes, entrees, platters and other items that you can pick up and simply reheat (stuffing, mashed, greenbeans, probably turkey, gravy, etc) check that out also.
2 people but factor in leftovers!!!
This is actually a really good idea, Sethboy. Wegman's prepared food is pretty tasty and they certainly like to push the whole "let us help you with your Thanksgiving." I'm sure they'll have a nice selection of side dishes to choose from in the prepared food case for just this sort of situation.
We have done the Wegman's dinner and along with some additional sides, it was fine. They also offer just the Turkey or a spiral sliced ham and now, I think Prime Rib. The Turkey is pressure cooked and only needs about 90 min to be warmed and browned. Everything came very well packaged. We had a complete Turkey dinner including the brie appetizer and the dessert.and ordered an aditional meat, the ham, they have bone in or boneless. We chose the boneless.
I've seen ads for personal chefs in the mailers that regularly clutter our mailbox, but I've never clipped any of them. However, I figured Googling might turn up some possibilities. So, I put "Personal Chef in Central New Jersey" in the subject line, and here are a few of the possibilities that came up:
Thanks for the suggestions. I've actually decided, however, to go with the Thanksgiving "Dinner for Two" that is being offered by Whole Foods. It's only $44.99 and you can also add on any additional sides that you want - I think it's a great deal.
To anybody who is interested in the Whole Foods menu, check out:
Wegmans also has a thanksgiving meal but it serves 10 - too much food for us! (That meal is $70 at the Princeton store). They also have a nice array of sides. They even have a Kosher Thanksgiving Dinner. Check out: http://www.wegmans.com/greatMeals/men...
Just thought I'd post this in case anyone is interested.
My wife is a nurse and I'm a Paramedic. We have to work on thanksgiving day and our son is expecting to have our traditional dinner....
Can somebody tell me where in Northern NJ we'll be able to order a complete dinner for 4 (ready to serve) ?
Please e-mail me at email@example.com
Thank you !!!
I know that you said you had decided on Whole Foods, but I just thought I'd share with you a great place in Jamesburg called The Chef's Table. They have a Thanksgiving Package for $25 pp. It is a minimum of 6 people, but we have done catering with them before and they are very accomodating for special circumstances, and the food is like nothing else you would get in the area! I thought it might be worth a shot. They have a website, but I don't know if the menu is on there www.thechefstableofnj.com.
