My husband and I have been to 821 for our last two anniversaries--it was that good the first time. There were free extras like a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate the occasion and the most delicious food presented so beautifully. We felt like valued customers both times as well as every other time we've been there.

I've always been a fan of 821...for awhile I was a little skeptical (when the new owners took over) and I wasn't able to get there, but I just read in Zagat that it's the best rated restaurant in Wilmington, so we went with a group of 8 and were above and beyond impressed. The chef sent out special amuses (little bites to "wake up" our tastebuds) in the beginning and the meal just got better and better as it went on. He created an amazing meal (on request) for my husband, who is a vegetarian, and who says he's never had better. My "chicken and waffles" was great, but I wish I had gotten the veal, which a friend of mine got and let me try. We're going back for our anniversary this weekend and that's what I'm getting. I haven't had such a wonderful experience in a long time, and I assure you that I've been around (fine dining...).

Although I haven't yet been there, I've heard great things about Domaine Hudson in Wilmington.

Domaine Hudson is indeed above average, and they have an infinite selection of wine available by the glass or even a few ounces at a time. The downside is that the restaurant can get a bit noisy and is not romantic, if you're looking for that typw of setting.
