Need restaurant recommendations for Scottsdale North of the 101

I want to take a friend to nice restaurant in the Pinnacle Peak/Pima area and need some recommendations. I am looking for a $20 average entree price range.

I am currently leaning towards "The Painted Horse" on the corner of Dynamite and Alma School but have not found any solid reviews.

I ended up going to The Painted Horse Friday evening. I had reservations next to the outdoor fireplace.

The atmosphere was nice and the staff was very friendly but there were still indications that you were in a nice shopping center.

We started off with some calamari and drinks. The calamari was good although it came with the sauce already on top. I am going to ask for the sauce on the side next time.

I had the black cod which had a sweet glaze which was very good. My friend had the breaded chicken entree which she enjoyed a lot but I found unappetizing.

They had a nice desert selection but we headed to the four seasons for a night cap instead.
