Good Italian on the UWS San Luigi

Had a lovely dinner at this relatively new Italian San Luigi, Amsterdan and 75th St. Well prepaared good old fashioned, unpretentious Italian American menu and they take reservations. Great Gelato display. The pastas were al dente. The Wednesday zuppa di mare fresh and good. All the old time standbys - daily fish prepared anyway you wish. I had shrimp fra diavolo. Pleasant and attentive service. A great additon to the neighborhood.

Agreed on all counts. I was really quite pleasantly surprised when I ate there recently. I thought it was supposed to be a Carmine's spin-off, but if so it's nothing like it's forebears (in a positive way).
