Times Square (specifically, 44th and Broadway), late at night, alone - where to eat?
Hi NYC 'hounds,
I'm an LA 'hound who's here for the weekend - but I'm hungry right now! I was wondering if there was anything good to eat in the neighborhood that's within walking distance of my hotel, which is on 44th near Broadway. (I'm a single woman so I'd prefer something safe.) Thanks!

There'a a famous chicken and rice cart on the SW corner of 53rd St and 6th Ave. There's usually a big line (>30min) and they're there 7:30 till pretty late (3am?).
They've got a fansite: http://www.53rdand6th.com/

Pigalle, on 8th Av., near 48th Sts., is a French brasserie that's open 24/7. I haven't eaten there, but I've heard the food is decent.
Note: One of Pigalle's sister restaurants is Marseille, also a brasserie, on the corner of 9th Av. & 44th St. It's one of my favs in that area. Excellent French/Mediterranean cuisine and very attractive surroundings. Unfortunately, for your
current needs, they close at midnight.Westbank Cafe, on 42nd St., b/t 9th & 10th Avs. (actually, just west of 9th), has very good food and nice atmospherics. They're supposed to stay open until 1 a.m., but I'd suggest calling there just to be sure.

re: RGR
I ate at Pigalle recently, and while I wanted to like the place, I was underwelmed...not bad...just very mediocre and some of the tiniest mussels I've ever had. Service was...well let's just say that when I dropped my fork and asked the waitess for a new one- she rolled her eyes as walking away...
Could have just been my luck that night, so only count it as one opinion...
