Campania - Fair Lawn, NJ - Report

I'm from Mahwah originally, but have lived in the SF Bay Area for 16 years. Whenever I'm back in the 'hood, I crave Italian. Our friends took us to Campania a few weeks ago when we were back and it was everything this gal could ask for. Yes, there are great Italian places in SF, but not like what I get in NJ (what I like in an Italian restaurant: complimentary appetizer like bruschetta, willingness to make something not on menu, no-rush attitude and (since most are BYOB) Sambuca with dessert). Campania has an extensive "specials" menu, recited by the waitperson upon arrival. Additionally, they're very amenable to catering to what the diner pleases. I was dreaming about broccoli rabe with sausage in some kind of pasta. Though not on the menu, I got it with orichietti and it was done superbly. And of course there was SO much that I enjoyed again for a full lunch the next day. My best bud had a wonderful veal dish, hubby had steak and other friends had fish. Everyone was very pleased!
