Twin Donuts Recs?

sharpless Nov 1, 2006 10:30 PM

Two questions: 1st, what should I be sure to get at Twin Donuts tomorrow morning.

2nd, is Twin Donuts worth getting up very early for? (consider that I am a college student, even if I don't quite sleep as late as one)

I've only been to Twin Donuts once and had the classic raised glazed, which is supposed to be a specialty. Based on that one experience, I cannot recommend getting up very early to go there. I can, however, recommend Donuts with a Difference in Medford Square.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother either. Twin Donuts is a veritable institution in my neighborhood, but the doughnuts are not actually all that fabulous. I mean, they're *slightly* better than what you would find at Honeydew or Dunkin. Let me put it this way: Twin Donuts is about 300 yards from my house, and I can't tell you the last time I bothered to go there.

      Great sign, though.

I would also recommend Donuts with a Difference on Riverside Ave in Medford Square. Their donuts are freshly made every morning. Another good place for donuts is Kane's Donuts on Lincoln Avenue in Saugus. Kane's Donuts are huge.

I was in Springfield today and went out of my way to go to Donut Dip on rt. 5. The best cakey pumpkin donuts ever. I also got the cider donuts, almost as good. I've only had the pumpkin before. I doscovered the donuts leaving the Big E years ago.
