      In my pantry...hmm,let's see...

      rooster sauce (srirachi)
      salt and pepper
      ancient spices
      a fruitcake of indeterminate vintage
      some horrible French liqueur
      boxes of food the cat won't eat
      a small amount of marijuana
      laughing cow cheese

      you know...the usual.

        I also have most of what's listed but would add turbinado sugar. Also, tamarind paste, good mustards (coarse and fine grain), smoked salt, sesame seeds, chili-garlic sauce, miso paste, sesame oil, soba noodles and a variety of different oils (truffle, roasted peanut, pumpkin seed).

                  I doubt I'll be able to remember all my go-to items in the pantry, but here's a start:

                  Ancho chile powder
                  Chipotle chile powder
                  Wildflower honey
                  Sea salt
                  Kosher salt
                  Cumin
                  Fresh ground pepper
                  Mirin
                  Rice vinegar
                  Really nice olive oil (from a Paso Robles ranch)
                  Red wine vinegar
                  Hot chile oil
                  smoky paprika

                  I could go on, but that's what comes to mind...

                          Oh boy, I feel like my pantry is so overloaded. But you can't go wrong with having any of these for the ready ....

                          ** soy sauce
                          ** Mirin
                          ** fish sauce
                          ** sesame oil
                          ** rice wine vinegar
                          ** balsamic vinegar (yes, people still use that!)
                          ** sea salt (Hawaiian, fleur de sel, and grey)
                          ** arborio rice (because I love risotto)
                          ** white vinegar
                          ** Ponzu sauce
                          ** panko bread crumbs
                          ** brown sugar
                          ** confectioner sugar
                          ** good quality extra virgin olive oil
                          ** curry powder
                          ** honey
                          ** worchester sauce

                          and a whole bunch of spices. Plus, there's a bit of regular stuff in my frig too!
