I am the least creative person I know when it comes to setting up a special meal. So, I am turning to you wise foodies for some help (see the sequel to this, entitled "Birthday dinner Ideas?" coming soon).

I am looking for a low/mid-priced non-stuffy, casual, cute, fun brunch place to take my boyfriend for his birthday. I am thinking something with really good eggs/omelettes and really good dessert/sweet type stuff, either in Rye or Portchester.

Thank you!

  1. I like Trinity in Harrison great food. Also the town dock in Rye is good. The brunch at Arrowood is very good.

    1. I second the brunch at Doral Arrowood. It's not 'cute', but the food is very good and the selection is excellent.Price is $32.50 each.

      1. What about Ruby's in Rye. They have brunch foods at a variety of prices and the wine is 1/2 priced bottles. Excellent value !

        1. Wow, thank you all so much, these are some very good suggestions and I was not expecting them to be so close to home! I am going to check each of these out, probably leaning towards Arrowood, since 2 of you suggested it, but will end up trying all at some point!

          1. I second the Ruby's suggestion. Great food, great friendly service, and can't beat the 1/2 price bottles of wine and champagne.
Doral is your typical hotel brunch...no ambiance, but ok food.

            1. Don't do Arrowood!! We ate there last year and I was SERIOUSLY disappoint. OK, so I am used to the old Xaviars Garrison brunch, but this was just terrible, nothing really special.

Pacifico in Port Chester has a really interesting brunch menu, although I have not actually eaten there. I would definitely try that over Arrowood. And Pacifico is on Rewards Network if you have that, so you save a bit off the prices.

              1. I used to love the Doral Arrowwood. Was a package deal for Sat night room and buffet brunch for $160. It has been a while, but, they have this stupendous pool that is indoor/outdoor. They heat it all winter long. You go from the gym to the indoor part and swim through a short tunnel to the outdoor area. It is very warm even when there is snow all around. Open late and very romantic. Buffet brunch omlette station nice pastry good coffee, i bring the nova from the bagel area to the omelette man for Lox Eggs and Onion. Have fun!
