Norwich/ Hanover Area Rehearsal Dinner Location? (VT/ NH)

melissalf04 Nov 1, 2006 03:05 PM

Hello! Does anyone have any suggestions for a great place to host a wedding rehearsal dinner in the Norwich, VT/ Hanover, NH area? Carpenter & Main will sadly be closed over our target weekend, but if you have any suggestions for similar-style food and ambiance, they would be much appreciated! Thanks!

There are lots of good options. The Norwich Inn does a good job, and I believe has private dining rooms. The cuisine isn't as innovative as Carpenter and Main's, but it's quite good, and very New England. www.norwichinn.com For more innovative cuisine, I'd recommend Peyton Place in Orford, NH. They, too, have a variety of small dining rooms which could be ideal for a rehearsal dinner. www.peytonplacerestaurant.com. The Canoe Club is popular, but wouldn't be my first choice... I do like it there, but it can get crowded and noisy. Simon Pearce is excellent, too (it's in Queechee, VT).

Home Hill in Plainfield, NH is the place you want to go. It is a Relais and Chateaux Inn, with an outstanding French restaurant. Charming ambiance, beautiful private dining rooms and places for guests to stay. It's about 20 minutes from Hanover. The food blows away Norwich Inn and Canoe Club (gasp), and the atmosphere is much more intimate and cozy than Siomn Pearce. They are very accomodating. You will feel as if you are eating in a small Provence restaurant. Check it out www.homehillinn.com or 603-675-6165.

Thanks guys, these are great options. I've been to the Home Hill Inn -- and it IS fabulous -- but I am looking for something slightly more dress-down and perhaps less imposing for the younger members of our rehearsal party. Have either of you ever experienced the Parker House restaurant? I've read good things, but would love any first-hand accounts... thanks again, both!!

The Quechee Inn is wonderful, just down the road from Simon Pearce. They are small and very accomodating, with fabulous food and wine lists. It's much more "relaxed" than Home Hill and they also have good guest rooms. Bottom line is their great food.

Nope, never been to the Parker House restaurant. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
