Election Night Take out or Delivery...

Hello everyone,
I am a NYC Chowhound coming to LA for one week. I will be staying with friends most of the time but for Election night, I will be staying in a hotel and eating in so I can follow the action.

Here's the thing, I don't have a hotel booked yet but I would actually be willing to choose a hotel in a neighborhood with good take out or delivery. I've been told pizza can be a mixed bag in LA but I'm happy to try anything (Chinese, sushi, BBQ, Indian, etc.)

I'm pretty new to the food scene there so all advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Wow. LA is huge. We could better advise you if you could narrow the region. Downtown LA? West or North Hollywood? West LA? Santa Monica? San Gabriel Valley?

Or perhaps by cuisine? For example, if you want fantastic Chinese, San Gabriel Valley is your best bet. If you want delish pastrami or sushi, downtown is your place to be. If you're looking for BBQ or Mexican, perhaps Pasadena or West LA...others could help you with more.

      What chica said.

Also, delivery isn't a given here, like it is in NYC. If you're not renting a car, you might want to find a neighborhood with lots of walking distance options

If you stayed at the San Gabriel Hilton you'd have a couple of dozen Chinese restaurants within walking distance.

      2. I'd suggest the Orlando Hotel with dinner at/from La Terza which is located within the hotel. Very central location and some of the best Italian in LA.

Going to be quite the nailbiter!

        1. Folks, please keep things food focused. Recommending food neighborhoods are fine, but hotel recommendations are out of Chowhound's scope
