Seafood in Charlotte?

Baltimore hound heading down to visit my folks this weekend. Would love to get some recommendations for a moderately priced to upscale place with an emphasis on excellent seafood. I've had both Upstream and Zebra recommended to me. Any thoughts on those / other places? Thanks very much in advance for recs...

  1. Upstream is upscale and certainly good. For more mid-range price, try LaVecchia's uptown. The LaVecchia family is in the seafood business. Oceanaire Seafood Room just opened, so I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

    1. I have dined at the Oceanaire Seafood Room 4 times since they have opened and can honestly say it is the most exciting and delicious seafood in charlotte. I have never had a more fresh piece of swordfish in my entire life and to top it with a lobster risotto made me the happiest seafood lover around. If you want the freshest cuts of fish and don't mind paying top dollar for it with great service then take your family or your business partners in. Say hello to me if you see me there, i'm happy to call myself a regular.

      1. LaVechhia is very good, but very noisy. Don't go if you want to hold a conversation with your table guests.
