Carrot Cake with Really Yummy Cream Cheese Frosting!!

Anyone know where I can buy a great carrot cake for a friend's birthday?

Thanks in advance!

  1. While I haven't had the carrot cake at either place, I've always enjoyed the cakes at Billy's and Amy's.

    1. The very best carrot I've ever had is Lloyd's which is in the Bronx on the road that borders the west side of Van Cortlandt Park. The place is called, simply, Lloyd's Carrot Cake, and I understand that they also have a Harlem location. The place in the Bronx is a hole-in-the-wall, but apparently they provide their cakes to all sorts of restaurants, hotels and caterers. You can't go wrong with their cake!!

That road is Broadway, and Lloyd's, which deserves its reputation, is just north of 242nd Street, the last stop on the #1 line, and near the Broadway exit off the Henry Hudson. I think the Harlem location is on 115th around Lenox, but I'm not sure.

Do you know if it's necessary to pre-order one of the cakes - or do they just have a lot of them in stock? Thank you.

Lloyd's has carrot cakes on hand, but I suggest you call to insure that the size you want is ready when you want it (the Bronx number is 718-548-9020).

      2. If you're looking further downtown, I recommend Black Hound's carrot cake. (@12th & 2nd)

It's got great cc icing and a richer, maybe even more complex flavor than the norm. they also have individual size cakes so you could always try that before you buy a regulation size cake.

btw, I've never had Lloyd's, though I've always wanted to try it.

        1. I like Amy's Bread. Little Pie Co. does a nice version, too.

          1. Carrot Top in Washington Heights. Located on Broadway and about 165th St. or so.
