So, please give me a hand, New York State locals.... I'm from L.A., meeting a girl from Toronto for our first date at the Leafs/Sabres game on Saturday. I need some suggestions for someplace casual, but with good food and a kind of laid-back atmosphere for after the game. Anyone have any killer ideas?

Best bet is Pearl Street Brewery- kind of an upscale pub. It has a lot of good beers on tap, good pub food and is near the game. It is casuel but nice. Perfect for what you are looking for.

Pearl St. might be a bit rowdy after a Sabres game - not a great first date idea, IMO. If you want near the arena you might check out City Grille, on Main St. or maybe Bacchus on Chippewa (same operators, BTW). Otherwise, Mothers on Virginia Pl. (in Allentown) serves decent food until about 2 or 3 am, if it is too late for some of the others.

The Anchor Bar...home of the Buffalo Wing.

That's where I'd go. Not sure if they still have entertainment on a Saturday night but it's a little more laid back. Great wings. Great atmosphere and you should hopefully be able to talk.
