i knew there was a reason why i love my neighborhood so much. for one, i found a lady who makes blue corn huaraches on wednesdays and fridays (and possibly one other day) on echo park avenue just south of sunset on the west side of the street. i'm not sure of her exact hours, but i'm thinking lunch-early dinner. she had huitlacoche, beans and cheese and i think some kind of meat available for toppings. i just had beans and cheese and it was very good. i was just psyched to see blue corn, cuz it seems rare in these parts...also my roommate and i hit up the patra burger spot right on sunset at laveta (a block east of echo park ave.) for burgers last night, and man were they awesome! totally chargrilled w/ nice fries that are in between a shoestring and a steak fry. they were cooked just a little well too, which is how i like em. and only $4+ tax for a burger combo, can't beat that! i wonder how the other stuff there is, but i bet i always get the burger from now on just cuz it's so good and cheap
