Ft-L/Davie Thursday evening

BeaN Oct 30, 2006 09:56 PM

I'll be in Ft. Lauderdale/Davie at NSU overnight - I'd LOVE to find an Ethiopian place to eat at, although I know it's unlikely.

Is there anything there that I can't get in the Tampa area? Or just anything in particular that's really good at any price point?

Stomach growling hopefully awaiting your recommendations

The only Ethiopian in all of South Florida (and possibly the entire state unless another has opened in Orlando) is Sheba, in Miami's Design District. It's a much nicer restaurant (and with substantially higher prices to match) than the typical mom-and-pop in DC. The food is good, particularly the vegetarian stuff, though not amazing. It will certainly satisfy the itch if you've been craving it. Expect to spend $30 or so per person for dinner.

If you take 595 to I-95 South, it'll be a 45-minute, 1-hour tops drive depending on traffic. Print directions and a map of the immediate neighborhood. Unless you've driven to the Design District before, it can be a bit tricky.

The Paella Seafood Grill is not far from where you'll be. Their tapas are very good and the paella is delicious.

This may not help you in FLL, but if you live in Tampa and are willing to drive for Ethiopian food, there's a place in Sarasota called Fly. It's on North Tamiami, across the street from the Ringling School.
