Peter Luger - Great Neck

[Moved from the Outer Boroughs Board --The Chowhound Team]

Has anyone been there? Will be going there for a friend's birthday because the Williamsburg location is renovating it's banquet room. I'm hoping the food/service/atmosphere in Long Island isn't disappointing.

  1. It may be located only a couple of hundred feet from the Queens line, but technically you should post this on the tri state board. The place is great. Same awesome steak and sides as the Brooklyn location. What you will miss out on is the grteat old time feel of the Williamsburg original, you just can't duplicate that. The interior is very dated but I actually find the service better. They offer you a menu without an insult and they have booster seats for kids, something I would be afraid to ask for in Williamsburg. I have been to both countless times (G.N. two weeks ago and Brooklyn visit comming up on the 9th) and the food is the same. Enjoy

do you know if they do the same hamburger lunch deals in the GN location as they do in Brooklyn? It's been a few years, but I often crave that burger... At the time, I seem to remember it was only lunch on weekdays, and not sure if it was available in Great Neck too...

Yes, they have the hamburger lunch deal in Great Neck. It is available during the week and on the weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Bacon cheeseburger, well done fries and an ice cold Beck's beer, it does not get much better.

yeah... that bacon cheeseburger makes calling nearly any other burger a "bacon cheeseburger" nearly blasphemous.

Thanks for the info, and especially the news that the offer is weekends too...

    2. BTW, the chopped steak for lunch is one item I believe is only offered on the weekend.

      1. The steaks are just as good as in Brooklyn Peter Luger. The service is much better. No decor to speak of, very plain, but then so is the Brooklyn location. You will have a good time and a great meal.
