Doogie's in Newington it.

I first went to Doogie's to try their hotdog a couple of years ago and I enjoyed it very much. The last two times I've been's all about the Philly Cheesesteak. They are awesome. I don't think I'll ever get another dog there in the future. The steak is lean (important to me not for health reasons obviously) and the bun is bakery fresh and smooshy....everything about them is great.
On a side note a friend just tried Doogie's for a dog but was enchanted by the signs for a "char-grilled" burger. My other friend tried the burger (dressed to her, fairly plain liking with cheese, a pickle, ketchup and some raw onions) and she didn't love it and was looking longingly at my killer cheesesteak.

I also heard a rumor that another Doogies is opening up perhaps near Windsor Locks.

i hope this was a bit on the tongue-in-cheek side... agreed on the philly though.. for those of us who don't have access to the real thing.

    1. Well considering most of my posts are about hot dogs so I felt I had to justify the statement. Fatty meat skeeves me out be it pork, beef (especially prime rib). So a lean burger, cheesesteak, pulled pork sammich....are 100x better in my book than those which are fatty.

      1. Yeah..Doogie's is pretty good. Haven't been there in a while, though.

Have you tried Blackie's in Cheshire out by Waterbury? Man, that relish is fantastic.

Yes I have been to Blackie's home of no french fries (don't even ask) but unfortunately about the only thing I don't like on a hot dog is relish (or hot pepper relish). My girlfriend loved it though!!
