Jam at Arax Market

I didn't try them, but today for the first time I noticed a variety of fresh jams in the refrigerated section of Arax Market in Watertown. (Top shelf above all the ikra and grape leaves and things, in plastic containers.) Some I noticed were blackberry, apricot, I think raspberry, and -- I thought chowhounds might be intrigued by this -- rose petal. They all looked like they were homemade and had big chunks of fruit.

  1. I've seen them. I wondered if they were bulk-packed from imports, like the Divina fig preserves at Whole Foods. Not that that's a bad thing, they're made in the country of origin, or where we'd like them to be made, even if it wasn't here...

I've bought a lot of the savory items, made in-house at Arax. All have been great.

Not bulk-pak. Proprietress makes them herself from fading fruit.

Pretty tasty, just inspect first to make sure they look fresh.

Yeah, I guess rose petal IS pretty unusual...Try any Ramadan sweets?

Do they do special stuff for Ramadan, will have to take a peek.

    2. I've had some exquisite desserts from Arax (they have so many!). I should try a jam next time. Arax is such a great store. Massis nearby is also good (superb Zaatar bread, one of my favorite things).

      1. I love Arax market...been going there for years. I will recommend that you try the rose petal jam. It's very tasty. I prefer having it with a little butter on toast.
