Gardner Ale House
We took a ride out to G-Town yesterday to have lunch at the GAH.
It was a little quiet, probably due to the weather. We sat at the bar, husband ordered a sampler, me a glass a champagne. I am not a big beer drinker, but did take some sips from the sampler. The sampler offered 5 choices, Summer's End, Facelift IPA, Opa's Albier, Oktoberfest, and Naked Stout. All were deemed very statisfactory; even the Summer's End. My husband doesn't really care for lighter wheat beers, but he said it had a lot of taste and character (plus it was non-filtered). The stout ended up being his favorite...he said it was similar to Federal Jack's Blue Fin. Toasty, no bitterness at all. My champagne by the glass was as dead as a doornail. I told the bartender and she promptly brought over a newly opened bottle and basically left it right in front of me. Nice!
They have a new menu too - everything from burgers to pizza and dinners. I got a turkey, avocado sandwich with a relish made of roasted tomatoes. The bread was thick cut and fresh. The other sandwich ordered was a Thai chicken wrap with cabbage and peanut sauce. A little drippy but also very good.
We have experienced one thing with brew pubs... either the beer is excellent and the food stinks.. or the other way around. This didn't happen this time, all about it was exceptional. The bartender was terrific, attentive and friendly. It liked the decor, open with brick walls and a separate dining area from the bar. Am happy for G-Town, it needs a perk like this.
We will go back in heartbeat..
One more thing, they are starting Saturday evening entertainment also. A small guitar combo. Sounds like a nice evening out!

You should stop in ... we went back again last week. We live in Lancaster and don't mind making the drive up Route 2. Agree, there isn't much in our area either and get tired with our limited, local fare.
Yet another nice experience. Husband enjoyed a winter lager (Snow Slaker) that was new since the fall. Lunch was good, food fresh and well prepared - service excellent and friendly. Parking out front is metered - so park across the street in the municipal parking lot. It's free! -

Agreed, it is a nice spot, which is sorely needed in this area. We tried it a couple Sat nights ago and it was packed. We sampled the Stout and the Oktoberfest (I think), and although I am not a beer person, they were enjoyable. The pizza could easily have fed all three of us, but two of us shared it and the third ordererd the salmon, which he said was delish and cleaned his plate. I hope this place does well.
