Anchor Line -- Charleston

Is there any truth to the rumor that the wonderful Anchor Line on Folly Road is closing? If so, when?

Hmmm - don't know, hope not because I enjoy the Anchor Line when I'm in Folly - there was an oyster shack, Bowen's Island, that burned last week - maybe someone was confused?

I heard from someone today that the Anchor Line is already closed! And it is definitely not confusion with Bowen's Island. I hope it is not true. I guess I will have to drive out to see for myself. It is very sad to lose both the Anchor Line and Bowen's Island.

The Anchor Inn seems to be gone. I spent a week in Charleston at the end of September and drove out to Folley Island to eat there. There was an empty building (not even a sign) where the Inn should have been. I was so disappointed. I had read their fried oysters were the best.

I'm sad about Bowen's, but honestly, the Anchor Line was no great shakes. Truly some of the most mediocre seafood I've had at the beach and that without a beer to wash it down.
