My friend's mother is coming to town and she wants to take her to a nice brunch place on Saturday morning - not too pricey- located on the westside - Any recommendations?

for tablecloth dining, i'd go to cafe del rey.
for $22 they'll serve you a two course, great, meal that includes a glass of champagne. i believe the three course meal is about $28.
the food is plentiful and delicious.

I like the brunch at Hal's Bar & Grill, on Abbot Kinney in Venice.

Here's a link to their webpage, with the brunch menu:

          I second Joe's - surprisingly reasonble pricewise.

Also a fan of the 17th Street Cafe in Brentwood, and John O'Groats on Pico.

Joe's if you want to stay within the "not too pricey" range.

One Pico at Shutters in Santa Monica if you want to nudge a bit higher on the "not too pricey" budget.

Since One Pico doesn't post their prices on-line, my curiosity bubbled enough for me to call them and they said they only do brunch in One Pico on Sunday, it's ala carte ranging from $16 to $28 an entree, and I'm guessing one needs to order more to enjoy it properly.

Joe's on the other hand has a set price option $17 to $20 for brunch either Sat. or Sun.

For even less, one could go to Lilly's French Cafe in Venice and order one of their lunch specials for $10 (sans dessert).
